mobileScottish Borders cuts costs through integration.

As part of its business transformation programme, Scottish Borders has rationalised its network of contact centres. To support this, it has used NDL's awi integration technology to provide instant access from the front office to back-office applications. The first area to benefit is Street Scene environmental services requests, driving significant cost savings. Since implementation Scottish Borders have handled over 14,500 service requests and 1050 payments have been taken.

Public Sector Nomads:

Public Sector Nomads is run by the public sector for the public sector. It is the number one place to go for instant access to a wealth of shared learning, peer-to-peer support, supplier expertise and products to help the public sector to avoid duplication of effort and re-invention of the wheel.

Day to day facilitation, support and resources are provided via Barnsley MBC, who are actively supporting the work of Public Sector Nomads. The future aim is to produce and facilitate a multifunctional web platform that will introduce immediately interactive features enabling instant community activity.  Groups and forums will be built giving access to live expertise, experience and the wider community of interest.  E-learning and guidance materials will be shared and the online space will be designed to host accessible webinar and live hot seat events to stimulate debate and awareness of areas of current interest.  You can visit the current Public Sector Nomads News site at:

Public Sector Nomads is being taken forward by Ken Eastwood (Assistant Director - Regulatory Services, Barnsley MBC) and Mark Baker (Worksmart Manager, Aberdeenshire Council)

A full interview with Ken Eastwood will be featured in next month's newsletter
