Delivering Neighbourhood Health: Reshaping the patient journey
Looking to relieve pressure on frontline staff and give them more time to focus on patient‑centred care?
This webinar explores how Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust has transformed patient access and experience at the newly opened Community Diagnostic Centre at St Margaret’s Hospital.
Delivering health services in the local community
The NHS 10‑year plan sets out a clear ambition to bring health and care services closer to patients and their local communities. Building on this, the Neighbourhood Health Framework published in March 2026 outlines the government’s intention to establish neighbourhood health services by bringing together initiatives already being piloted across the NHS, local government, and the wider health and care system. Key drivers for this initiative are reducing fragmentation, localising services, and improving the patient experience.
Community Diagnostic Centres (CDCs) are a crucial enabler of this ambition. By increasing diagnostic capacity and reducing waiting times, they help deliver care closer to people’s homes. The CDC at St Margaret’s Hospital supports this approach by offering extended opening hours and state‑of‑the‑art diagnostic equipment, thereby expanding local access to MRI scans, X‑rays, and ultrasound services.
By moving planned diagnostic testing into the community, the centre helps relieve pressure on larger hospital sites while enabling more joined‑up care. It also opens pathways for future treatment and follow‑up services within the local community.
Improving the patient journey
When the CDC opened, patient check‑in was identified as a vital point in the overall patient journey. The Trust’s Digital Transformation Team recognised that improving this first interaction could significantly enhance patient experience while also easing pressure on reception teams. In this webinar, you will hear how the team at PAH developed and implemented a self‑service digital kiosk that allows patients to check in for their appointments without attending reception. The solution, which is already delivering tangible results, guides patients from arrival through to clinic attendance.
Join us on the 2nd of July to learn more about the Trust’s plans to integrate with multiple back‑office clinical systems and enhance functionality as phase 2 rolls out, building on the success and feedback from the first phase of the project.
The webinar will explore three core elements of the solution:
• Patient self‑check‑in kiosk for quick and efficient arrival.
• A back‑end management portal that allows reception teams to manage patient lists in real time.
• Visual wayfinding screens that clearly direct patients to the correct clinic and room.
Who should attend
A highly replicable project, this webinar is suited to anyone working within the public sector who welcomes patients or citizens into their facilities. It will be particularly relevant for those overseeing patient or citizen experience, those managing and operating a Community Diagnostic Centre, or individuals delivering digital transformation initiatives. IT leaders, Digital Transformation teams, and Executives focused on neighbourhood health, elective recovery, and productivity improvements will also gain valuable insight.
You’ll also get the opportunity to put your questions directly to the presenters in a live Q&A session at the end of the webinar. Don’t miss the chance to hear from the team who developed and implemented the project at the CDC, and gain a deeper understanding of how the CDC is revolutionising community‑based care - secure your place today.
