SX: Robotic Process Automation

Your Digital Workforce

Automate repetitive tasks with our Robotic Process Automation platform.

Remove costly, repetitive manual processes and deploy teams in more important areas where they can really add value.

SX is NDL’s Robotic Process Automation (RPA) tool that takes the manual, repetitive and mundane tasks that people do on a computer and automates them, saving human time and money. With SX you can develop and manage automations that can drive any software system but at increased speed and greater accuracy.

These automations can be scaled up or down to reflect demand, running 24 hours a day, 365 days a year under the full control of the SX management suite. In addition to automating processes, it also means information can be shared across different software applications, including both front-end and back-office systems.

Key Benefits of SX

  • Eliminate duplicate data entry and manual re-keying
  • Automate repetitive tasks to drive speed and efficiency
  • Make better use of key workers’ time
  • Achieve significant cost and time savings
  • Provide greater data accuracy
  • Streamline the reporting of incidents
  • A one-stop alternative to multiple vendor APIs
  • Build intelligent workflows that allow staff to focus on human tasks and decisions

SX is a Low Code development environment with drag-and-drop functionality, putting the service in control of its own automation goals and priorities.

SX can intelligently automate the processes of any back-office system. It is provided under a corporate subscription licence, with no restrictions on the number of automations and integrations that can be deployed.

Full training and comprehensive support is provided on the use of the development environment.

Key Features

Process Automation

Use SX’s process automation robots can be instructed to take care of any manual computer task.

The RPA ‘Bots’ can work in unattended and attended modes. Both options allow the human workforce to focus on human decision-making, whilst saving time and money.

Data Migration and Integration

SX has been used to migrate hundreds of millions of records. From one system to another, from one organisation to another with both simple data sets and more complex file types.

Integrate data across any back-office system, so that even the oldest legacy systems can be used as part of a transformation or modernisation process.

Deploy alongside NDL’s FX platform, for integration via eForms and Robotic Process Automation.

Deploy with NDL's mobile application platform (MX) to enable the combination of data or processes from one or more systems within one app.

Extraction & Attribution

Use software robots to extract only authorised sensitive or confidential data, without human intervention.

The SX platform acts as an attribution agent, abstraction layer and data aggregator, even when the data is ‘locked’ in inaccessible systems, providing richer information upon which to design public services and make critical business decisions.

Feed data into dashboard systems and business intelligence tools, to provide enhanced reporting capabilities.

Combine with Artificial Intelligence (AI)

Deploy SX alongside Cognitive Services provided by organisations such as Microsoft, Amazon and Google. These include Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as:

Chatbots, Sentiment analysis, Optical Character Recognition (OCR), Text and Forms Analysis, Speech to Text and Machine Learning

The open architecture of SX allows the NDL community to select the most appropriate Cognitive Service available, from any provider at any given time.

SX Package Components

  • Data Process #582C83
    SX Server
Central server component which controls and balances the connections and instructions to the ‘Bots’, both individually and in work teams and how they interact with the target application client(s).
  • Elements #582C83
    Development Studio
Analyses the target applications and identifies the various ‘controls’ (buttons, text boxes, etc.) within them, their different types and properties which are then stored in a library of application profiles. These are then available within the drag-and-drop scripting environment, allowing quick and easy code development, or passed to Visual Studio if preferred.
  • Bot #582C83
    Robot (Bot)
Client component that drives target app(s), using instructions received from the SX Server and returns data read from the app back to the Server to be onward processed. Target apps run in monitored desktop environments generally as VMs or terminal services sessions.
  • Console #582C83
    Manager Console
Configures and administers the SX Server. Allows DevOps staff to monitor Bots in use, change their configuration and settings and create and allocate Bot Teams. The management console also provides configurable levels of diagnostic and audit tracing information to be gathered. This information is stored in a SQL Server database so and be accessed with Microsoft’s Power BI through a secure connection.
  • Queue #582C83
    QX
QX facilitates transaction queueing and workflow orchestration. It is an independent queuing mechanism that supports a wide variety of inputs, allowing data transactions from one process to be stored for handling by a second process and so on.

Robotic Process Automation in action with SX: South Norfolk Council

"SX does all the jobs we didn’t have time to do. But as well as all the time savings, it’s also generated other significant cost benefits through not having back-office applications running in the customer service centre: on software licensing, training, installation and IT support costs. It’s become engrained in our approach to service transformation and is now the trusted first-choice solution for any integration or data cleansing project.”
