All things NDL Community

The latest frontline responses to COVID-19

With a shared spirit amongst us at NDL, our customers and the wider society to do good, we enjoy nothing more than sharing real-world stories of our customer base. This issue we focus on sharing snippets from the latest responses to COVID-19, as our public sector community continue to deliver key services in the best interests of the nation.

National Immunisation Vaccination System (RPA)

Like all vaccination centres, West Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust are mandated to use the National Immunisation System (NIVS) for recording COVID-19 staff vaccination data. The Trust has a tightly integrated in house vaccination booking and administration system which it uses to log immunisations that supports the streamlined staff vaccination workflow. To eliminate duplicate data entry, the Trust has implemented SX to integrate data directly with NIVS as an RPA process simply pulling the information from its in house SQL database.

Key results so far;
  • Rapid deployment in only 12 days
  • Supporting the administration of 600 on average per day
  • A total of 34,000 registration and administration records processed in 2021 so far

                   Automating Patient Waiting List Data (RPA)

East Lancashire NHS Foundation Trust is utilising SX to automate their patient waiting list, prompted by a huge shift in clinical priority because of the pandemic. Supported by NDL's Professional Services team, a full end-to-end process was developed collaboratively, including a full handover in only 7 days. SX inputs patient feedback straight into PAS for review, allowing the Trust to manage postponed or awaiting reschedule appointments, and gather patient feedback to review and prioritise need based on clinical risk.

Staff Vaccination Project (Apps)

Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust has combined both FX and MX for the booking and administering of COVID-19 vaccines for its staff. The Trust has created an eForm that allows staff to book a suitable time and date. MX is then used on the day to provide the clinician with essential patient information and record the administering of the vaccination quickly and easily.

Key results so far;
  • Removed all associated manual data entry (expect into the national NIVS System)
  • Shared project collaboration with Lancashire and South Cumbria NHS FT
  • Saved 15 minutes of admin time per vaccine slot

New Feature: Your FAQ's

We have decided to add a new feature into our seasonal community newsletters, to help combat some of your key enquries all in one convenient place. Over the next few issues we will compile and share your frequently asked questions for a particular topic - this issue we focus on questions that you regularly ask our Customer Success Team.

Q: How do I select suitable trainees for platform training, and how do I book onto a course?

A: It’s important that suitable trainees are selected for any of our training courses to ensure the most appropriate team members can successfully get stuck into your digital development projects straight away. All of our course description documents are available for your use and contain all of the skills pre-requisites you need to join one of our Developer or Advanced courses. These can be found via our  'Training Academy’ page. If you want to chat to one of our Technical Consultants who deliver the training, reach out to support@ndl.co.uk.

Q: I've read an NDL project case study and it sounds similar to what I want to achieve in my own organisation. Can you put me in touch with a person that was directly involved with the project?

A: If you come across a project story, article or even attend one of our online events and want to know more about a particular project or speak to that member of the community, don’t hesitate to get in touch. Contact hannah.gilbank@ndl.co.uk who will facilitate an initial engagement to get you connected.

Q:How do I register for access to the website secure User Area?

A: Registering for access is easy and can be done in a couple of simple steps – go to www.ndl.co.uk and select the ‘User Group Area’ button at the top right of the page. The ‘Apply for Access’ button can be found on the left-hand side of the page. Simply add your details and we will approve you right away and send you an email to let you know you can now login.

Q: I want to start talking to other departments about our NDL platform license to develop further project and increase my ROI. Can you help me do this?

A: There are many ways in which we can support you to facilitate internal discussions, identify new projects and increase your financial value. Whether you wish to start with an introductory call with us, a technical demo of the software you have licenced or an awareness session with one of our Commercial Team, we can help. Contact Hannah to discuss your needs.

Q: I have a new digital project to develop but I'm not sure of the resources I need to achieve this. What pre-project work can you help with?

A:

Our Professional Services team can support you with a variety of pre-project work to help you get off on the right foot. Whether you need initial guidance and pointers to gather requirements or need your project scoping by us, we can be really bespoke in our approach. If you think we can help you or just need a little advice to get started, contact info@ndl.co.uk and we will put you in touch with a member of the team.
